Was it a coincidence, or a divine message from God? It was morning. I flipped open my bible, sat it down on my lap in preparation to read it. Next to me on the couch was a copy of my book, the PrayHers 31-Day Challenge. I picked it up and started thumbing through it to see if there was a particular day that stood out. On this day it was Day 7, In Hers is Yours! It was about the visit between Mary and Elisabeth after they found out that they were both going to give birth to a son.
After I read it I turned my attention back to my bible that was still on my lap. Unknowingly, I had it opened to Luke 1:41, the same verse referenced in Day 7 of the challenge.
Interesting, I thought!
I started reading the story in its entirety, and although I have read it many times before, it was different this time. The words seemed more tangible, as if I was there with Mary and Elisabeth sharing in their joyous moment! Witnessing the beauty of two ordinary, but powerful women standing face to face, both carrying miraculous, God-sized visions on the inside of them. Elizabeth carrying John the Baptist, and Mary carrying Jesus, the Lord and Savior Himself.
Both of them were genuinely excited for each other. They both knew they would give birth to something great that was going to revolutionize the lives of many for generations to come. And yet, as I watched their historical moment, I didn't sense any insecurities, competitiveness, or jealousy. I sensed two women who simply counted it an honor and a privilege to be used of God-- that He would place such treasures in earthen vessels. The joy wasn't in what they were carrying; it was in Who they were carrying it for!
Go ahead! Take your praise break, because Mary sure did!
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Luke 46-48.
Indeed that is something to rejoice about!
So, what do you think God is saying to us today? What does He want us to learn from our two sisters? I believe He is saying, ‘It’s time to stir each other up! Time out for being consumed with just your own hopes and dreams, stir HERS as well. Stir up what I have placed on the inside of her. By doing so you are stirring up what I have also placed on the inside of you!
Don’t envy HERS, don’t compete with HERS, because YOURS is just as great! Continue to humble yourself before Me, make Me your number one priority. Become more consumed with Me than the dream that I gave you to birth, and watch Me make your name great for generations to come. For with Me nothing shall be impossible.
I will ask the same question as in the beginning. Was it a coincidence, or a divine message from God? I will let you answer.
