Are You Laboring or Resting?

Hey Victorious,

I hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend! Whether you BBQ'd with friends and family or, like me, chose to chill and regroup... and check in with YOU, the community.😉

This morning, I woke up to Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” How fitting, given the day.

Anytime I wake up and God's Word greets me, it's a signal to pause because God has something to say. This morning, it was a question: Are you resting, or are you laboring?

In my mind, I had been laboring—thinking about how I was going to accomplish all the “things” I purposed or desired to do. How do I implement the many ideas that I have? Am I even supposed to be doing those things? What should I be prioritizing right now?

I was laboring in my mind, and when I woke up, before I started entering into worry, Jesus invited me to enter into HIS rest.

In exchange for:

The stress.

The worry.

The expectations and self-imposed pressure.

Jesus says, “Come to me.”

So today, I’m asking myself a question—not just for Labor Day, but whenever I’m tempted to worry, overthink, or stress:

Am I resting, or am I laboring?

Am I carrying what Jesus invited me to give Him?

We learn by discovery the rest that can be found when we bring our labor—our worries, our questions, our heaviness—to Him. Because sometimes the work isn't in doing more. Sometimes the work is learning how to rest, and with that, I will leave you to it.

Until next time, I will be praying yours, and I hope you are praying mine.

See you at the finish line,
